I am a part-time English teacher, full-time Arabic learner, and student of all things culinary and cultural. My mom nicknamed me Lulu when I was a little girl, and since she has been a great source of wisdom (culinary and otherwise) and patient, persevering cheerleader in all my endeavors, I honor her at my table.

I live in Tangier, Morocco, a city known for experimentation. In keeping with said tradition, I’m experimenting with mountains of fresh fruits and vegetables, spices, dates, olive oil, nuts, and country butter. Marhaba!

About Note: I’m no longer contributing to Lulu’s Table, but I’ve moved on to bigger and better things. Check out my new blog- Flourish– for new adventures and discoveries in food.

  1. We are happy to have you hear, Lulu 🙂

  2. Hi there, I am studying abroad in Strasbourg this semester and I fell upon your almond – yogurt cake thing online (looks amazing) and you mentioned you studied there. Wondering if you know any good places to shop for healthy food (particularly almond milk. I’m lactose intolerant and concerned I wont be able to find my favorite organic substitutes). Goodluck with your career – your recipes look incredible!

    • Hi Hayley! That’s great- have an awesome time in one of my favorite cities! Unfortunately, it’s difficult to find those sort of substitutes except in the “bio” section of the supermarket. You should be able to find almond milk or rice milk in the bio section of simply. There is a natural foods store that I have never been to, but try asking around. You can also make your own almond milk! I am also living abroad, so I have the same issue! Good luck and have fun!

  3. Kelsey–I’m so impressed! Love your intro about your mom (Lulu is definitely a nickname only a mom can bestow). You have such a variety of recipes from which to choose. If you do a cookbook, I’d be happy to contribute some recipes. Feast on!!! Sharone Hardesty

  4. Hi Kelsey, Blume forwarded me your blog. You write beautifully and I’m looking forward to trying some of your recipes!
